Hey Guys

I'm after picking your brains with regard to the reason why my 04 astra 1.7 cdti has trouble starting some of the time.
Basically, i get in it 1st thing in the morning, turn the key and it starts as normal. I then proceed to reverse it off my drive when it cuts out on me.
It then takes some time turning the engine over before it fires up and again and then drives off as normal.
It may be a coincidence, but it seems to happen when the car has been sat for a period of 12 or hours or so, in between times, no problems. Once it is started, it runs ok so i'm not sure what it can be.
It was serviced about 3 months ago so i wonder whether something may have arisen from this?
I also wonder whether it may be a fuel problem? Maybe filter or pump??
I would appreciate any advice that you can offer me and would thank you in advance

Ta.

Could be a thermostat issue. Engine not warming up enough first time you switch on.

Just try revving the engine a bit more than you usually would and see if it still cuts out.

A thermostat issue in a few feet? Unlikely - if it was stuck open it wouldnt get up to temp, if it was stuck closed it would overheat...
