Got a prob with my Vectra, but this forum is prob not the best place for the problem.

So anyone know any good vauxhall owner forums who might be able to help?

But if anyone is curious here is the problem:

The other day engine started to make noise like the exhaust was blowing, so took it to the garage and had new front pipe gaskets and new cat, but the noise is gone away sort of.

The engine is using more fuel to produce the power needed, also it seems like when you try to pull away there is a delay in the power arriving and feels like the engine is stalling even though trying to accelerate

Is the car serviced regularly ? When was the air filter last changed ? I've come across many cars that run rough and use huge amounts of fuel because the air filter is completely choked up with dirt.
If thats not the problem then I'd say get the engine management system checked.

why the  Zippo?

Thats a bloody long time in between services.

Down here its every 3 months for a service and thats only if you dont reach a certain number of Kms.

Serviced once a year.

Not sure on the air filter, no idea where to look though

If its serviced every year then I doubt the filter is choked up. Try finding a company that specialises in engine management systems and get them to check it.

Does everyone there drive Evos or something?
Generally I think it's every 10k miles which usually works out at once a year.

My Vectra lost power & started using more fuel , it was a split in the air intake hose to the main throttle body. Bought the bit , fitted it , was back to normal :)

well, up here on top of the world :p its usually yearly or every 12,500 ish miles on average. some cars have earlier service intervals. maybe its because of the heat /dust in your warmer climate ?

Over here it's around a year per service.

3 months - I'd expect that on something like an Evo doing normal mileage, but it's far from the norm.

Zip well whereever "down here" is for the most part cars in *** UK are serviced ever year or at a set milage interval. When i had the derv serviced each year but oil changed at 6 month intervals

Well our car is a 1991 L Series Subaru Sports Wagon so nothing too special and its supposed to be serviced every 5000kms or 3 months what ever comes first.

Last service we were 10,000kms over :o

There are 2 main forums

http://www.vvoc.com
http://www.vectra-sport.com

I'm a member on vectra sport; although its smaller it does have in my opinion a tighter community. Some really great people on there. VVOC is probably better for your problem as there will be more people who have heard of it happening before.

Would appreciate that you join up to vectra sport though!

I'll soon be on my second vectra now. Have been driving an SXi for the past year. Thought it was about time i got a GSi, so i'm picking that up tomorrow from London area. Can't wait to finally pick her up.

Nocturno blue colour
facelift with all the usual trim and body kit found on the gsi
various engine mods
lowered 30mm - uprated suspension
uprated brakes
tinted windows

Sweet V6 power; should be pushing out a touch over 200bhp at the fly.

Dont think I could afford to spend about £150 every 3 months on servicing my car

That must have a really shocking engine, or you must just be really confused. 5000km's is Evo money, not run-of-the-mill Subaru.
