VB and adding skins?

Is there a guide out there that would help me make custom skins in VB?

Like mapping a bitmap file to the VB project?

Is there a very simple example, such as one button, and one bitmap file, and the button will take the shape of the bitmap picture?

Or am i going way over my head?!

Not that i have seen but have you ever used a program called ActiveX vbSkinner
that is for vb6 you can easily make pro looking skins in no time there are other programs like that just try doing a google search there also ones for VB .NET if you use that just try visual basic skinning applications on google there is even a program which is quite nice to apply window blinds themes to your forms
