do any of you who use vB really think it's worth the money? i mean what is it? $140 per year for the board + extra for things like themes?

that's double the cost of my hosting! i mean i can see that for a massively popular board like OCUK $140 is nothing, and is worth it for the extra security, but for a smaller board they are taking the ****. it really isn't [that] amazing.

roll on olympus i say.

How do you mean smaller board? How many members do you estimate?

If its below 500 leave it waste of time, however you dont need a good baord for a good commmunity, we at ocuk got both :p ;)

not worth it for a smaller board tbh.

Invision Power Board is 70dollars, and is a good board

otherwise use smf, or punbb for good free boards

i've tried (and dislike) all those boards you mentioned. olympus laughs in their face. :)

and even without olympus i'd still rather use xmb.

vBulletin is well worth the money IMO. There's a lot of very well crafted code there, it's quick, user friendly, easy to install even as a novice. What more could you want?
