Vcore fail in bios, is this a problem?

I have recently put an E8300 CPU in my GA-N680SLI-DQ6 motherboard. On the gigabyte site it says the E8300 isn't supported but it seems to work fine. The PC boots and runs great. However I noticed that the CPU was running at 2.6 instead of the 2.8 standard so I went into the bios to have a look and noticed that it says Vcore fail in the status. What does this mean? I assume its because the CPU isn't supported? Will it create problems if I continue to run the PC with that error? I do have options in the bios to increase voltages and the FSB would increasing the voltage help?

I have found out that the E8300 CPU is not supported because my board only supports 65nm CPU's and the E8300 is a 45nm. I belive the main problem with running a 45nm chip in a 65nm board is that the board may overvolt the cpu. If that is the case then can I set the Vcore voltage in the bios to less than the max for the CPU and keep using the E8300 cpu in my board?

If anybody could give me some advice or info that would be great.
