Trying to get Prime95 stable @ 3.825Ghz, current BIOS vcore is 1.55v getting to the point now where I am starting to get a little worried about the voltage going through the chip... temps are at 66/66/60/60 full prime95 load..

Do I need worry about the vCore yet? what is the most I should put through... some feedback from some of you more experienced guys would be great

Way too much voltage IMHO. Your temps are approaching what I would consider to be too high. I would stick with 3.6GHz tbh.

The vcore's fine as your load temps are still grand, and Prime95 temps are higher than normal load temps.

A tad more vcore to get stable at 3.825ghz would be just what the doctor ordered.

The temperatures are excellent for a quad with that level of overclock on. Voltage doesn't kill chips, heat does, and Intel chips will shut down well before they will allow themselves to be damaged.

I need 1.525V to be stable at 3.82GHz and 1.6V to be very close to stable at 4.05GHz, but that's with the Gigabyte Voltage Calibration (Vdroop correction) on. Without it, I need another 0.025V at least.

Don't worry, it's not going to die from overvolting.

thermal cut off for that chip is probably the same as my Q6700 (2.66ghz default), around 100 degrees. i would say anything under 80 degrees isnt going to hurt it, but you might want some extra cooling to bring back down to a more reasonable level, between 60-70.

my chip hits 75-80c under full load with a stock cooler running @ 3.15 ghz and vcore of 1.30. im waiting on a tuniq tower to push it further safely. i would drop yours back to 3.6 and stick with that.

Is That on air or water?

I need 1.6v to get stable at (425x9) 3825mhz but my WC gets too hot, needs fixing though over Christmas!

Thanks for all the replies just wanted to be sure she wasnt going to go boom :) I think that it will probably be stable at 1.55 Vcore for 3.825 ran for a couple of hours earlier this evening but can't keep the rig on overnight as the misses complains that its way to loud for her to sleep?!

Air.. Lapped CPU and Ultra 120... *3 Delta's in the rig as well, am currently playing around with getting the Ultra mounted more securly think I can drop those temps so what as well

:) yes they are loud lol 3700 RPM and 52.5dB each on 100% speed...

Normally when I am using the computer for games or just internet then they never go above 30/35% and are virtually silent (no more auidable than the S-Flex I have in the case)

well using speedfan to control em as the sucky Asus fan control only lets me set them down to 60% which is frankly to loud! is a deeper pitch of quite then the other fans but certainly not noticable, can still here my 8800 GTS @60% fanspeed over them
