Hi guys, me again!
my comp is running at 3ghz now and runs at a max of 60deg when prime 95 has been running on small fft`s for about 8 hours. however, the bios v core is set at 1.28 but is reading 1.37 in the bios!

can anybody help me get my vcore to lower?

old bios update did nothing, but the one that came out last week i`ve just installed.

initially thought it`s crashed my system!
then remembered i have the vcore set at 1.10v to see if it would wrk!

guess what!!!! success. mnow running prime 95, at 3ghz, at 1.30vcore with 53deg load temps. ummm

I've just updated to the 0902 beta BIOS myself and it looks like I've finally been able to acheive a 1Ghz overclock on my E6600. The new BIOS seems to have really helped the voltage issues though I still plan to install an uprated thermal solution for the chipsets as that NorthBridge gets bloody hot!

bah i looked just yeasterday for an update to the bios and 902 wasn't there. really hope they have sorted the vCore issues.

Sorry to ask but whats the point in lowering voltage? The core 2 duo's have a default max of 1.35 (and i've seen people on water run 1.7 through them), why would you wnat to go below it? It wont break warranty nor will the cpu break. The cpu isnt overheating either.

Do me a favour and link to that beta BIOS.

I know its a long shot but does it help with the vdroop? Probably going to have to mod mine as running 1.6v or more is a doddle for my water setup and i'm hardlocking already at 3.7ghz.

mine was setting itself at about 1.37v when it was set to 1.29 (all in bios, fails in dual prime 95 at any lower). its now set at 1.29 in bios and my temps have gone from 60 at full load after 12 hours dual prime 95 (small tft testing)
to ~53 under full load after the same time. Seems like an improvement to me!!
as5 has only been on for around 30 hours aswell so hopefully that`ll cure a bit more and lower my temps a bit more.

cpu is lapped. using ac7 pro. antec ultimate gaming case. (all fans set to medium)

going to give it the 200 hour burn in time then try to get up to 3.2-3.4 ghz. if temps are to high then i may look for another cooler if i don`t like them (i`ll be happy at 60 or under at full load)

oh, somebody wanted that link: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

flashed mine using a usb stick with the unzipped bin file put onto it. worked a treat!

If you're still haveing problems overclocking I'd recommend you read though the first post here as it basically told me the settings I needed to focus on for a stable overclock. In my case there wasn't enough VTT voltage.

just noticed that the link stated above uses the 680i chipset and doesn`t mine use the 650i? (as its the p5n 32 sli plus model)
is it still ok to utilise the settings he/she mentions in the link?
cheers, ollie

p.s. fitted a tuniq tower yesterday!! :)
temps are 1deg lower compared to the ac7 pro (although the paste hasn`t cured yet)
