Hi. Can someone please clarify if vDimm should be bumped if ram is doubled from 2GB to 4GB? I've done this recently, and kept my 2.1v settings. Corsair XMS TwinX DDR2-800.
I did drop some throughput (according to Sisoft Sandra), which I expected. But a mate suggested bumping to between 2.2v and 2.4v given the extra modules.
Now, I don't want to fry my ram ;) but neither do I want it gasping for juice. Orthos ran for 24 hours without any objection whatsoever.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Increasing the Vdimm with 2 modules vs 4 modules should not make any difference at all if the MOBO is made properly. Each DIMM slot should get a stable voltage that is set in the bios with either 2 or 4 DIMMs. You may benefit from increasing drive strength or memory VTT if your system is unstable and your MOBO bios allows it. The extra Vdimm is only going to add heat and void the warranty, Keep in mind that there is a tolerance built into our Vdimm spec so you should be able to do about 2.25v safely.
