VDIMM Voltage

Hi, was wondering what the stock VDIMM voltage is or how i can find out? At the moment it is set to auto. Specs are in the sig

Hi you need to set it to 2.1V or +3.0 as your motherbnoard will be set at 1.8 standard.

it will only run at the advertised timings with the recommended voltage iirc

Ok so setting it manually to 2.1v won't damage anything? Just checking before i blow something up

Not necessarily. I have many modules that will run advertised and tighter timings at much less than recommended VDIMM. Its a failsafe of sorts by the manufacturer, pump enough volts to make sure..

Play around and find the lowest volts you can go and remain orthos and memtest stable with the advertised timings. Personally i like to be stingy with the voltage as i've seen countless modules die pretty quickly due to heat, reduction in voltage reduces heat quite a bit.

Mothgerboards don't know what voltage to apply to memory, so they go for the "default" voltage. Some higher spec ram will run better at higher voltages - indeed it may not run at the optimal settings they specify unless you run it at that voltage.
