Hi all,

I've got the opportunity to get a vega64 for £170. It's an hour drive away to get it and is reference model ( which I like the look of for my build :D ) would this be a good buy?

I actually dont think it's a stunning deal... unless I've basically been giving them away. I not too long ago swapped a broken one for a working one and £75 my way. Still haven't fixed the broken one...

Sorry all I've not upgraded my sig long story short...

I bought a house with my girlfriend hardly went on the pc so downgraded to 1080p and a gtx 980 now we've split so I have a little more time for the pc :D so looking at getting a 1440p monitor and new gpu

In that case a Vega 64 is good for £170. But as mentioned by others check it hasn't been used for mining and isn't actually a flashed V56. Also make sure you have a good PSU.

I had a reference Vega 64 for a while and found that it was very tolerable noise-wise if you undervolt. At stock the fan ramps up to obnoxious levels and they get very hot, but with the undervolt in place it was fairly quiet and never got above the low 70s even stress testing. I did replace the thermal paste with Thermal Grizzly too though, so it might be a bit worse with crusty old stock paste if you don't.

Funny you say that. I bought my V64 second hand. The fella I bought it off is pretty knowledgable. He said it was hitting 74+75 under load, but as he was selling it, he removed the cooler and replaced the paste with Kryonaut and now it’s topping out at 67-68 under load. -7-8 degrees is a pretty good result for just changing paste.
