Vegas 2021

Pretty sure you can't. You need your keycard to get into the pool area and there's a member of staff at the entrance. They want to sting you with those poolside beer prices.
I always keep my room cards from all hotels when I leave, or just give one back on check out. The amount of times I have been to Cosmo, Aria, Wynn, Encore pools just flashing an old hotel key card is countless :D

Nobody calls it “old Vegas” BTW, you’ll sound like a noob if you say that. Just call it downtown or Fremont.

There is so much more to downtown these days than just freemont as well.
I really like blackjack but I like to play all day and have beers throughout. If you like that but don't fancy $25 min bets, $10 is so hard to find these days on the strip (unless you're going proper ****) so you can go poolside at the Golden Nugget - $10 tables and the pool right there. Fast drink service, obviously "free" aside from the tips you pay.

They have some really cool bars off freemont as well. The container space is cool.

I'd check out lipsmackingfoodie as well - It's something we're looking to do this year.

I won $1813 on a cheap $1 slot machine in a casino on Fremont street, so it gets a thumbs up from me :)

Edit - Though they held some back for tax reasons and I didn't have time to claim it, so I only got about $1200 there and then.

I love blackjack too, it's really annoying that all the decent hotels are $25 min bet now, some even higher than that at prime times. Even worse they've steadily made the games worse for the player. If you want a proper game that pays out 3:2 on blackjack then you have to go off strip to some crappy casino or play much higher stakes :(.

When I was at Aria in October last year they scanned our room key every day at the pool, so presumably this trick doesn't work anymore.

I hear the buffets keep cropping up in recommendations. Are they actually that good?
I'm always a bit overwhelmed by the choice and then underwhelmed by the quality with a buffet but understand that I haven't ever been to a Vegas buffet.

Are bottomless brunches a common thing in Vegas?

I 100% recommend* the dinner buffet at the Wynn with the drinks package. Probably the only meal in Vegas last year where I didn't feel vaguely ripped off! Great food, quick drinks service, can book in advance and reasonable (for Vegas) price. Can't go wrong!

Caesars was decent too but Wynn was better in every way, especially organisation/layout.

*Unless you dislike either meat or seafood.

Just checked out lipsmackingfoodie tours too. They sound good and not tooo bad on cost really. How do they fit in 3-4 dishes at 3-4 different restaurants in 2.5-3 hours haha. It must be real fast paced stuff unless all venues are next to one another.

We were already thinking of a food tour in NYC and/or Mexico City too, and whilst i do love eating, not sure I want to do another! Will see what the Mrs thinks though as we haven't booked any yet and tbh for NYC i'd rather walk round and do it myself potentially.

I just looked at the Wynn to see if you could book but it keeps saying there is no availability for any day i choose. Is it working for you? Wouldnt mind getting stuck in if its that good.

Probably only let you book close to the time, I think we booked it 2 days in advance or so.

With the Wynn/Encore, are the rooms drastically better in one than another? Or is it much of a muchness? And do you get access to different things if you book either hotel?

Encore is slightly newer though it's the same resort/same company/owner. It's where Prince Harry stayed when he got photographed playing naked pool with some random girls in his suite.

I think only Encore guests can use the Encore pools but both Wynn and Encore guests can use the Wynn pools, though that's simply because Encore (and the pools) are smaller.

Sorry to dig up a slightly old thread but just wondering how you guys decided on where to eat when you're in Vegas.
I've looked through the videos and previous suggestions in this thread but still struggling to narrow down a shortlist. The only thing we have booked is Lotus of Siam, the thai place.

We've booked for our honeymoon and are staying at the Cosmo but the sheer depth of restaurants even in every hotel is there is quite mind-blowing.

I'm just looking on TikTok and the usual like STK, Tao, Nobu come up quite regularly but are there any good resources? Or is it a case of everywhere in Vegas will be good and I should just take a wild punt based on a menu I see?

I don't know of any resources other than the usual but as you say there are so many restaurants you do get bit overwhelmed by the choice.
Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab was the best place we ate at if you want a recommendation. Also Nacho Daddy was awesome if you are looking for a casual lunch in Downtown
