i'm after a new tripod to replace my cheapy one.

what are peoples opinions on the Velbon CX Mini. Does it have quick release? am fed up of screwing the camera into my current tripod!

What else should i be looking at?

budget? Personally, i wouldn't replace a cheap tripod with another cheap tripod, you'll only end up replacing it again. As i said in the other thread, save £100 and get a decent Manfrotto 190Xb with (i think) a 390rc2 head. That way you'll never need to buy again, it's the sturdiest you'll get for the money.

im not fussed about budget, as always - i'm fussed about size. i looked the CX mini because its, erm, mini.

the Manfrotto 190Xb is about 20cm long when closed

the manfrotto is a lot longer than 20cm when closed more like double that, however, take a look at the gitzo 1550T, 35.5cm folded and max 146cm open, probably cost the best part of £300 but stable and light but only supports upto 2kg

If you want small and light then the Manfrotto minimodo is worth considering. I was very impressed with how light and relatively stable it was. Would't want to hang any big lenses off it though.
