Hi,

So I got myself a Corsair K70 and I absolutely love the build quality and feel... Everything is spot on. However there is one MAJOR issue and that's how noisy the thing is!

I can't type in peace any more because my GF can hear me from 2 rooms away (it's that noisy!).

So does anyone know of a keyboard of similar spec but without the huge sound every time you press a damn key?

Suggestions appreciated, thanks :)

What switches have you got, blue I assume from your post?

Edit: take a look at the Logitech G710+ it uses brown switches and comes pre-fitted with rubber o-rings to keep the noise down :)

There are two reasons that mechanical keyboards are often seen as noisy: they might have clicky key types such as the Cherry MX Blues, or you may be striking the keys hard enough that they make a noise as the switch is fully pressed.

To address the former you can often pick up the same keyboard but with a different switch type. MX Blues and Browns are clicky, whereas Reds and Blacks don't have a clicky response. The Vengeance K70 in particular is available with either MX Browns or Reds IIRC.

The latter can be alleviated by the use of o-rings, although in some cases choosing stiffer switches can help. When I'm typing I've noticed that MX Blacks are far quieter than Reds, but your mileage might vary. O-rings, although a little fiddly, are the best solution though.

Some keyboard manufacturers are pre-installing o-ring-style cushioning on their keyboards. As Space Monkey said Logitech is one, and I'm aware that GAMDIAS is another. If they use the clicky switch types however you won't be able to get rid of all the noise, only that associated with hitting the backplate.
