Okay mate just signed up for this, all started to use it the other day for some gaming and all you got was echoes and feedback sounded horrible.. mate not happy as he has paid £20 ish for a yr for this and skype is better.. just wondered if anyone has used this and knows what the cause is??

Is he using headphones?

BTW: this is best suited in the gaming section

Edit: Isn't the vent client free its just the server which costs??
Edit2: It seems both the client and server are free :/

A few things:

1. Make sure vent is set up correctly with the highest available codec.

2. Try to use push to talk so your mic does not get stuck open. If you are using speakers you will get feedback if the mic is open.

3. Make sure you set the output/input to your correct devices under setup. Making sure in windows under playback your mic is mute.

Oh and make sure you turn off key kicks, its annoying as hell.

I believe you can host around an 8-10 slot free, although if you want more slots you will need to pay. For the hassel of hosting it ourselves we just pay as its only a few pounds a month.

Eveyone is using a headset. why he paid for it was due to him going to use it on WOW with lots of friends.. we all dont really like the push to talk button would rather just chat as we go along..

Making sure in windows under playback your mic is mute. ??? using Windows 7 looked around for this??

there was some tutorials on youtube explaining how but this did not seem to fix it..

the input/outputs are set up to the realtek ones..

I would say speakers and that would be a problem if people were using them. Due to slight delays you are usually likley to hear yourself through someone else if you use them.

Push to talk is the way forward, having on constant transmit is the noobs way out.

Use a mouse button or something, it's what I do and it works great.
