Hi, I'm not exactly amazing with internet connectivity problems, or software, so bare with me...

I'm assuming that a lot of you are hardcore gamers on here, and know what ventrilo is, so this is the problem I have:

When I connect to ventrilo, everything is great, but when I disconnect from ventrilo, and reconnect later on, nothing happens, it doesn't let me connect, it just sits there doing nothing. I have to restart my router everytime it does this, which is really annoying. This has only been happening the last couple of days, and I thought it would stop and go away after a while, but alas, it's not going away. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Virgin Media 20mb (not fibre)
AMD Athlon64 x2 6000+
Gigabyte MA780G
OCZ GOLD PC8500
Radeon HD4850 512mb
No aftermarket network card

normally ventrilo connection issues are due to port problems, Which port is the server hosted on?

Also firewall can cause ventrilo to hang as well, I would double check ports on the router (if your hosting this) or check your firewall settings.

Do you login with an account onto the vent server or as a guest?

Possible problem with duplicate I.P on the account?

Wild stab in the dark but I've seen it happen. OH and above what whizzkidy says, make sure all the ports for the vent you connect to frequently are completely unlocked!

On Win7 x64 make sure you have the 64bit version of Vent, also I find it works better when run as admin.

Also, regarding the dup IP issue mentioned when you disconnect from Vent do you disconnect and then close Vent or just close Vent without disconnecting first? As sometimes just closing it doesn't log you out properly and if the server or you account is set to ignore inactivity timers and to not allow dupe IPs the the 'dead' connection may not get logged of and tie up your IP.

See if someone can stay on Vent while you log in and out to see if does disconnect you properly.
