Versatile sound cards

Hi guys,

Have been using your excellent advice in planning my first rig, to be used for gaming, entertainment and dabbling in audio production. Fairly sussed bout the other components but totally confused when it comes to sound card!

If I want a soundcard with good MIDI support in order to connect with my keyboard and do some sound production in, say, Reason, what would be a good card to go for?

Would something like an E-Mu card which seems to be a good choice for midi also be good for gaming and listening to music/movies?

Or would i be better to just get an XFi and just get USB MIDI controller?

I've currently thinking of either:

E-Mu 1212

or

X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty 7.1 Champion Series

But I'm really not sure what to go for and have found good advice hard to come by. Im currently running a cowboy set up with a MIDI keyboard running through the joypad port (no sound card on current PC) and its unresponsive to say the least!! I'd therefore be looking for decent MIDI interface to fiddle about with audio production software. Would either of these suggested be appropriate?
