Vertical lines in Windows - PowerColor R290

Hi guys,

Not long after I got my R290, after one driver update I think, I began to notice vertical lines appearing onscreen - usually brought on by mouse movement.

Sometimes its worse than others and more noticeable. With the current driver I've started noticing the lines whilst web browsing! It has been just confined to my idle desktop. Gaming/video playback seems unaffected :)

I'm currently on the latest beta catalyst drivers and I'm pretty sure this is a drive issue becasue I don't think my monitor/graphics card are faulty. I'm half suspecting my mouse; its a Razer DeathAdder. I've got another USB mouse in the post to rule that out...

In the meantime, is there anything I'm overlooking?

Thanks.

I've just completely uninstalled the drivers and the issue still remains :(

It's got to be either the card or my monitor hasn't it? When I turn the refresh rate down to 60 hertz, the lines go away. 100, 120 and 144 all give me lines.

I've got a Benq XL2411T btw.

I remember reading some where about this before or something similar, i was recently researching about the power color 290 coz i was looking to get one before but got the tri x instead. Any way some one spoke about this in this forum sometime in feb with the title R290 powercolor woes.

Thanks for that mate! Although I've just been reading a lot of threads about my monitor, the Benq XL2411T... seems there are a lot of people who have had my exact issue or similar :(

I think it might be time to start an RMA - my supplier doesn't stock my current monitor any more but I'm guessing they'll swap me a BenQ XL2411Z. A few have said that there are a lot of emerging issues with the 'T' series of Benq.

For pretty much ever powercolor r9 290 you have to flash it's BIOS. Google it for more info as I can't remember what you have to do off the top of my head. But I had constant crashing issues with my r9 290 which were fixed with an updated bios I got from a powercolor rep

are you using firefox with the 'noscript' addon?

i only mention it because i also noticed vertical lines (not many & not on windows or video playback or games) when browsing with firefox, when scrolling (msi r9 280).

found the culprit was noscript & it cleared up after uninstalling & reinstalling the addon.

I have got FF with Noscript but I get the lines without FF running. A idle desktop still gives me lines...

Thanks mate! I've sent a couple of addresses emails requesting a new bios, I'll have to wait and see how I get on ;)
