Vertical lines on screen

I sold my old R9 270x on ebay and the guy said that he is having problems with the card. he said it isn't working properly and is getting lines/artifacts going up the screen, looking at the picture here, does anyone know what this is?

he sent a refund request message through ebay and included some pics of the screen but when he included pics of the card, it wasnt even powered up. I asked him to make a video of this happening while his rig is powered up and to show the steps he took to try and fix it.

he said he tried multiple monitors and cables.

Hope you've logged your serial numbers too - just incase he's pulling a fast one.

I didn't , do you reckon OCUK will have done this?

Do you have the original box? It'll be on a sticker on that.

the only box for the card that I sold was the one that I sent in the package, the original sapphire box.

Looks like he's pulled a fast one on you to be honest, unless he send you a video trying multiple monitors with the card you sold him inside.

Did you take pics of the serial no. Etc before you sold it?

I didn't , never thought of this before I sold it.

there are some serial numbers on the pic where the card Is upside down, cant quite make them out though.

don't have them, I delete them as soon as I upload them to ebay. gonna take serial number pics in future though.

You need to post the original photo or if you don't have it, the ebay one. Otherwise people can't say whether or not they can do it.

I'd also say I want to see that that's the card running and I want to see the time and date through Windows on the monitor screen while it's running all in the same video. For all you know he could be showing a video of the problem the card he's replacing was having not your's.

I asked for a video with the card in and running but he said he had already packed it back up and wasn't willing to do a video because he had spent enough time researching and trying to fix the problem himself.

for the sole purpose he couldn't be trying to have you on I'd wait in till the card is back in your hands make sure it's the same you gave him as he could have had a faulty card but same model etc, did you make any notes of the serial number and such?

no, but other people have suggested the same thing and since, I have cut , cropped and resized the numbers themselves from the ebay listing pic. I'm trying to enhance them a little better in photobuckets editor

got the card back today and from what I can tell after playing with the listing picture, it is the same card. unless he managed to swap circuit boards, replacing coolers and stickers lol

I can make out... A16400 D 9 0 M /40 at teh end or 740 for the serial number.

//edit, sorry, didn't see the final post. Out of curiosity what was the serial number on the card you got back?
