Hi guys

i have a dell U2211H has vesa mounts etc,

now im looking for a desk mount (or wall mount whatever) thats very adjustable,

i want to be able to rotate the monitor portrait as the stand does

but also be able to move the monitor from 'standard' just off the wall too basically 'lying on the desk'

like how you'd have a notepad or something flat on your desk

(obviously not totally flat but i hope you get the gist)

Cheers!

The Ergotron products are the closest you'll get to what you're after I think.
Take a look on the ergotron site, probably a LX or MX wallmount would be the best option. It wont go entirely flat but perhaps a 80 degree angle is good enough?

yeah they look good! good find! yeah not totally flat i meant like so its at least a 45 degree angle between desk and wall

By monday I should have pics of an ergotron 'LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm' if you want to see the kinda of functionality their arms have.

I've had it a couple of weeks now but I haven't had time to pick up a desk from ikea.. My current desk has a glass top and I'm not clamping it to that!

you defiantly get what you pay for! Having used the Ergotron stands at work and have a cheap stand at home, although it fits my needs its no where as flexible or as nice to use as the ergotron.

Well basically with monitor arms:
cheap = clamps/screws to keep things in place, they're not build to be adjusted a lot. Mainly to keep things in place at a certain position.
Expensive = Gas-spring (or hydrolic, but haven't seen any of those tbh), they're build to do more than just adjust it once and forget about it.

Always check though, don't want to spend a lot to find out it's a bunch of screws and clamps ;).
Hazro is supposed to come with a desk mounting monitor arm that's supposed to fit in somewhere in the middle though. Cheaper than Ergotron (and the rest of them) but still a gas-spring based design. They haven't announced a release date or how adjustable it's going to be though.

PS: I don't think the Ergotron MX desk/wall mounts differ in anything but the screws/desk clamp you get with them. My desk mount has screw-holes in the backplate of the desk clamp so I'm fairly sure it could be screwed to the wall.
