Tried that too, its still the same :( Also tried the pb_sleep 500 thingy :(

Just put latest mobo drivers on gonna give it another go :)

-Disable windows defender realtime scanning (in the options)
-Disable any startup programs from loading with windows (using msconfig)
-Disable system restore unless required to keep.
-Update your windows to the latest version to have the performance fixes released a while back.
-Close the windows start bar.
-Defrag using a good and efficient application such as o&o.
-Set the texture size on BF2 to medium and see if that resolves the issue.
-Run spyware, close unwanted tasks from task manager etc.
-Update video and sound drivers.

Sounds excessive, but all of those should help in some way. I know i have to do similar things when running vista on a few of my older games. :)

I was getting it too. Putting 4gig of memory in improved the situation some. Vista apparantly "intelligently" reservers memory and gives it back to apps as needed. Seems it isnt intelligent enough to do this with BF2. Check your HDD light when you get the stuttering, it will be flashing like a good un.

go to task manager while playing and see how much memory bf2 is using

i'm using XP and bf2 sits in memory at 950mb

stuttering is often caused by lack of memory, which is strange because you have 2gb, but then you are running vista

Vista doesnt use 1 gb of RAM (only superfetch does, but apps like bf2 have a priority of cache), he should be fine.
I recon it's his isp if it only happens in MP.

When BF2 is running, i look in task manager and total memory used hovers around 1.5gb which is strange, looks like XP back then :(
