Very basic connectivity question

I have a very reliable Netgear wireless modem/router. I gave up on the wireless aspect over a year ago as wireless sucks, especially in a block of flats like mine.

This router has 4 ethernet outs which are connected to two desktops and two laptops.

I also use it to connect wirelessly to my PS3, XBox 360 and Wii which are in an adjacent room. The connection is terribad.

What I would like to do is run three more wired connections. I've reached the limit of my internet connectivity know-how so I'm not too sure where to go from here.

I need a switch, yes? That switch would be connected to one of the ethernet outputs from my router?

Please correct any mis-assumptions I've made and spec me a nice, cheap "thingy" that will do the job.

Thanks :)

Thanks, Mr. don sir :D

I know I don't need gigabit - it's just in case I ever do anything networky-complex in future.

Erm, I need standard Cat5e patch cable rather than crossover? Never did know the difference between those two :o
