Looking for the best DDR2 available, probably Micron D9*** I guess ?

Whats the cream of the crop thesedays ?

D9 and 'best' haven't gone together in the same sentence for ages. D9 are tripe quality and Crucial are virtually the only company still using them.

If you've got money to burn then go for these.

4gb bud, how about these lesser known in the U.K makes like Team Xtreem or Mushkin ?

I'm not an experienced user of many modules but for what its worth, I have had the 4Gb XMS2 at 1000Mhz 5-5-5-15 since June 08. :)

Granted, I have had an 80mm fan blowing on them since day one and they have kept very cool at all times.

I have read good things about the Mushkins, however quite pricey.
Personally, never had them but G.Skill seem very good for price/performance and normally get good reviews.

2GB Patriot DDR2 PC2-9600 1200MHz Viper Series (5-5-5-12) Dual Channel ELKN Nvidia kit - You need to buy two, so £192

2GB Patriot DDR2 PC2-9600 1200MHz Viper Series (5-5-5-12) Dual Channel ELK kit - You need to buy two, so £184

4GB G.Skill DDR2 PC2-9600 1200MHz TT (PI) Series (5-5-5-15) Dual Channel kit w/ PI Heatsinks £267

These are about the highest performing DDR2 products available. The first two will run in a 4x1 combo, as they have small heatsinks :)

unfortunately the really good 2x2gb kits are extremely expensive. I had 4x1gb OCZ SLI that easily did 1200mhz...now have G.Skill PQ 8000 2x2gb sticks that do around 1100 but did not cost me much. Got them 2nd hand int he MM.

I have a 4gb set of the gskill 8800 pi and can confirm the heatspreaders are thin enough to run 4 sticks if you want, I posted a thread in thin forum about them a while back with pictures :)
