Morning all...

I am starting to get confused with this problem I got on a spare computer..

It all started with the AGP gfx card showing odd vertical lines (like when overclocked too much) and it would only just manage to get into Windows XP before the computer would turn off. The lines were also showing during boot.

Oh well got the whole computer cleaned, new grease on the cpu etc.. and suddenly the Corsair ram would not light (or showing various errors on the leds). I added some spare ram - same problem.

Took out the CPU cleaned it once more - and voila back to square one - computer will post with stripes but shuts off in Windows.

Tried a different AGP card - this one went straight into Windows without shutting off (could hear that by the different sounds) but this card never gave an image not even in bios.

Tried a third AGP card and it all looked good and dandy. No stripes, booted into Windows and told me XP found a new AGP card. The minute I right-click the desktop Windows shuts off. Tried to boot 3 or 4 times - same problem.

Tried once more with this card (trying to get into VGA mode via F8) but now this card will shut the computer off during boot, so I cant manage to change anything in the F8 boot menu.

Anyone tried something similar?

Well since the boot problem is still there - could it be the AGP port?
With 3 different cards I cant get windows to boot..
