Can anyone spec me a respectable gaming PC for around 200 quid (i know this is a huuuuuge ask :)) need everything except monitor which i already have

Putting it blunty, no.
Even if you bought everything second-hand it would be neigh-on impossible to build ANY sort of PC for £200, let alone one destined for gaming.

Double to budget to £400 and you may have a vague chance of building something worthwhile.

thats with all new parts and well over budget and tbh crap

based on some MM goodness here goes :)

case with psu circa 30 quid (try your local pc shop for a cheap un or go s/h
HDD allow 20 quid for a small capacity cheap un
GFX shop around you'll get a 1900 xtx for 70 quid
2 gig of ram for 30 quid

and if you look real hard you might get a cheap cheap mobo and 21X0 for 50-60 quid and a dvd rom for a fiver :)

although this still would put us over budget by 15 quid but would be much better in games

anyone else do anything close

If you know what you're buying, you might be able to put something mediocre together for that price using second-hand components, but it won't be much of a gaming PC.

You will then be out of luck anyway, because it won't have Windows unless you use an illegal copy and you don't get many games for Linux.

If you want gaming for £200, I think you're going to have to buy a console.

lol

Yeah, although I posted that in jest I think I'm actually serious. If that's your budget and you want to be able to play decent games then a console seems the best solution.

blooming heck!

that spec looks decent enough, change the 1gb ram to 2gb ram though

what the heck?

People donated a certain number of posts in the Rememberance Day auction, whch is why you will see a few people with 50-100k post counts..which is a few are now not Wise Guys ;).

As mentioned, £200 is not going to get you much at all.

If anything id atleast try get £350.
