Hi all, I just bought a new D7100 a few weeks ago and on it's first run-out I noticed that it was front-focused so today I spent 30mins shooting a bricked path and using that to visually adjust it as best I could.

I found that all three of my lenses (35mm/50mm Nikon and 70-200mm Tamron) needed between +12 to +16 (out of 20) to get about 95% of the focus (by my eye anyway) using the LCD and zooming in. Obviously it's not going to be 100% without a proper test set-up but it'll do for now however are those figures something that you would consider "bad" enough to return the camera under warranty repair for?

Cheers.......................................Ian

I would liekly return it or better still, send it in to Nikon with all your lenses to get a complete system calibration.

There isn't really a problem with having to micro adjust all your lenses. However, at some point in the future if you get a badly back focusing lens then you might not have sufficient control to correct it if your camera font focuses.

I have same issue with my D3300 kit. Is this something they would fix this as it is a low end body/lens?

To get something in focus I need to move the camera a whole foot closer after locking focus. It's pretty annoying and ridiculous.

On the other hand, live view autofocus is unbelievably accurate, which is a shame as I use the viewfinder 99% of the time.

Of course, jesus, your camera sounds horrific.

Focus accuracy should be within a few millimeters when calibrate and focus conducted properly.

Thanks for the replies, I remembered I bought Focal a few years ago for my 7D so I've re-installed the new V2 which came out yesterday and I'll give it a bash over the weekend but I'll probably still send it back in the next few weeks for the reasons D.P mentioned.
