I'm using vista ultimate 32 and up until about 4 hours ago it was perfectly happy..

now if I try and play anything with itunes nothing happens when you click on the track, have tried reinstalling and still nothing.

if I browse to the track and try playing in WMP I get

"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

I am the only user on this pc, set as admin, user account control off and the files or on an internal hard drive. I also have them copied on a nas drive and I get the same message there (but they're playing fine on my laptop or my xp partition) I also tried my micro sd card thats got some mp3 on it and that gives the same message.

Anyone got any ideas? I think it might be a registry thing, flash player wouldn't install earlier and I used a ccleaner on it, was working fine afterwards but this does feel like I've done something unspeakable to my mp3 handling.

Anyone?? please!

bloody ignore me...

just tried playing farcry.. no sound so I thought I'd unistall my onboard sound and reinstall it.. went into control panel and then sounds..

comes up with "windows has detected audio enhancements are causing problems, do you want to disable?" so I click yes and we're all working again.

a) I didn't turn them on
b) Why didn't you think to tell me until I went into the sound menu on the control panel? Did you want to make sure I'd noticed?

bloody operating systems...
