very laggy game help please

hey all,


I have been playing the witcher (the 1st one),

I have all the settings upto max thinking this is a old game I should have no trouble,

mydrivers are all updated I have done a scan on canyourunit site and its a full green bar everything has passed with flying colours.

the problem is when im playing it with just a wizard casting a spell aswell as my spells the game starts lagging badly and jumping as if the pc cant handle it?

my spec is in my sig aswell,

any ideas guys id hope to think my rig could easily do this game at top settings

Is your CPU overclocked?, If not get it up to 3.6ghz - 4ghz that mite help.

sorry I didnt mention, it is not clocked at all just as it was out of the box, but still id be very disapointed if a £100+ g card cannot play a old game on high settings something doesnt seem right

Check drivers, Witcher was notoriously buggy when it was first released, I assume you are running with latest patches etc, however 5770 is rather on a weak side, even for W1, so I would NOT RECOMMEND MAX settings on it just yet.

Hello,

From experience with W1 it is quite challenging to run i had a 260GTX and it ran it OK but did admittedly have occasional slowdown. It doesnt sound like theres anything wrong with your graphics card W1 is just notoriously not very well optimized and you almost need to throw a graphics card thats too powerful just to run it hitch free.

As people have mentioned make sure it fully patched as there where some big problems early release.
