Very nice keyboard mod

I found this detailed and illustrated account of a keyboard mod.

The idea was to make a mostly brass keyboard in a very retro style, looking somewhat like a 50s typewriter but completely useable. I think it turned out very well.

It isn't my work.

I like the look, but I'm not keen on the felt background. I wonder what else you could use instead. some sort of laminate perhaps.

Shame the regular spacebar spoils it a bit but it is probably more practical.

maybe some polished wood, like some nice dark polished and shaped pine... would look real vintage then

A copper coloured sheeting under the keys and you
got yourself a leonardo da vinci keyboard.

Yeah I was thinking pine effect laminate but I'f it were possible to do it with wood all the better.

Looks well done but i don't like that at all :eek:

. If it looked like an old type writer then it would be better IMO, but too big i suppose. I'd much rather have my modern looking brushed Alu Hiper keyboard :cool:

as above i agree. very tactfully done, but then he had the right tools. i wouldnt want one in a million years though. in this case, retro is not cool
