very noob question to memory experts i reckon...

I need some ddr4 memory, if i can get faster speed memory like 3200mhz for the exact same price as lower speed memory 2666mhz, could i clock down the 3200mhz memory to 2666mhz speeds and lower timings if i wanted to ? cheers
