very odd 8600GTS behaviour

ok so i got a new comp and it only cost me £400 new from my local comp shop (ps not the purple place)

specs

AMD ATHLON X2 5600+
2GB DDR2 667MHZ
8600GTS
ASUS MV2
400W psu (not sure of the brand but its stable)

well anyway my 8600GTS is having odd behaviour

its only supposed to be 256mb well its displaying as 512mb

and im getting 210-220fps on counter strike source
and 130-150 on lost coast

i find this very odd as its only a middle end card

any ideas on what is going on?

The CSS performance seems normal mate. As for displaying 512Mb maybe you got lucky
