My PC's an i7 2600k with an ASUS Z68 board and 16gb RAM. It has behaved perfectly for the past 5.5 years, but this weekend suddenly took a nose dive and started behaving strangely. I should mention it got a new case and cooler a few weeks ago but was working fine since.
It will always boot windows fine, but when you get there you'll usually find it unresponsive. It won't open task manager and fails to open apps. Sometimes it freezes all together.
I've tried scan disk (fine), Samsung ssd magician (health fine). Overclock has been removed. Safe mode and live Ubuntu work fine, but system restore fails and windows refresh sat for an hour with the loading animation and didn't get anywhere.
So I'm not sure if it's software related or not. Is there anything else I can try before attempting a nuke and full reinstall?
