Hi Guys

Setup a Bootcamp XP partition on my new MBP!

Seems to munch through source based games with ease :)

I know these aren't built for gaming but I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it does perform, laptop seems to get slightly warm after some time of gaming but I suppose that the graphics taking some stick!?

Even installed COD4 and that seems to run well, attached an external monitor which helps...

Soon as I finish gaming though I boot straight back into OSX ...lol ;)

I've been doing the same and also have been very happy!

I just signed up another steam account and got the valve complete pack! Everything runs on high with great FPS at 1680x1050. I may go get 3Dmark06 and see how that fairs! Would be intrigued how our machines compare!

One thing i have noticed with my macbook pro is that there is a load of visual tearing in OS X and XP. Also, when in XP i don't have any ethernet drivers so can't get a internet connection through it, it's not too big a thing since i have a Time Capsule with "N" capability but i would like to use ethernet really.

Feel nice to have a Counter Strike Source fix after all these years without! :p

My ethernet seems to work ok? Well I can see the device there but haven't plugged an RJ45 in as yet although pings ingame are mid to low 20's on wireless which is fine :)

I'll run 3dmark06 in a bit and let you know what I get...

Will leave Nvidia settings to default and the same with 3dmark my res is 1440 x 900 but I'd still be interested to see how they perform? :D

Played some Insurgency last night had a right scream... Sound is OK with my Sennheiser PC161's as well... Very pleased with everything so far....

Post back 3dmark results shortly... ;)

Two big children :p

Welcome to how life will now be. ;)

Amen!! :D

3Dmark06 results as follows

5758 - Default (nvidia control panel settings)
5837 - Performance
5223 - Quality

Nice scores, beat my old 2.5ghz XPS 1530 by a 300 which had an 8600M GT

I got around 5200. That was with High quality on the nvidia control panel with a resolution of 1280x1024 (default 3dmark06 res).

Not as much as i expected but it's alright i guess...

Specs are;

2.8GHz
4GB RAM (only recognizes 3GB)
320GB 7200RPM

I'm gonna get a OEM copy of Vista and do a clean install as some drivers are missing in my current install.

Scores seem to fluctuate a lot.

I'm running XP 32bit at the moment...

Hmm and you have the 9600M GT also?

I found it so easy to do bootcamp and XP install...

Nice to be able to drop back and game when I want plus it performs very well under XP......

Just need to get 4gb RAM in the new year...

Hiya, Has anyone benchmarked their 3.0 or 3.2 system?
Mine's configured with 3870.

I can install bootcamp and windows on the system but it'll be a little annoying for me since there's a hardware RAID card bypassing the on-board controller, plus I need a loopback cable first...

Were you using 1280x1024? I have 512MB of VRAM aswell...

Hold on!

You spent a load of money on a MBP, then straight away installed Windows on it anyway because Mac OS X doesn't do what you need it to. You could've bought a flippin' Alienware for slighty (only very slightly...) less money!

Crazy :p

Anyway, i'm spoiling your fun - continue :D

Alienware or Macbook Pro....hmmmm? :)

Purely for a bit of gaming and I mean a bit....

If you were running off your inbuilt screen then it may not be as high a resolution as i was using.

I shall try and use a lower resolution and see what i get!

Sorry yes that was off my MBP screen!

Need to collect my Hanns-G 19" WS tomorrow for some gaming :)

Must remember to grab a DVi adapter from the purple shirt people tomorrow too :D

Hopefully they'll have the right adapter! I got mine bundled in with my order! (at a price) They put it in the macbook box under the documentation, there is a little indent for it which is nice!

Gutted the one the missus got me is wrong, for a Macbook Air which is too big!

Just checked my box and there wasn't one in there?
