Hi all,
I have recently bought an Asus P5KPL motherboard and Dual-Core E5200 CPU. I am a complete newbie to overclocking, and have been playing around since reading various other posts and articles.

I have managed to get the CPU running stable at 3.17GHz so far with the stock cooler - checked with Prime 95. This has been achieved ONLY by increasing the FSB slowly. If I go any higher, Prime95 reports errors, so I understand that I need to go a tiny bit higher with the VCore. I appreciate temps must be considered, and have a Zalman 9700 in the post to me. I also realise that my motherboard is not the ideal for overclocking, so am just happy to experiment.

My question regards my BIOS - I have the following options, which do I use? They are all currently set at AUTO. I am guessing the last one..?

- Memory Over Voltage = AUTO, 1.85>2.24
- 1.25v Over Voltage = AUTO, 1.25v, 1.4v
- VTT_CPU Over Voltage = AUTO, 1.2v, 1.3v
- 1.5v Over Voltage = AUTO, 1.5v, 1.6v
- VCore Over Voltage = AUTO, +50mv, +100mv, +150mv

that cooler you have bought isnt great for overclocking but when you are running prime95 test use HWmonitor to see voltages and temps and could you post a screenie:D

To add a bit more juice to the cpu via the Vcore then, yes, the last option is the one to adjust - i.e. the VCore Over Voltage = AUTO, +50mv, +100mv, +150mv.

You should easily get a few more Mhz out of that chip by upping the Vcore.

Good luck with it.
