Just about to go to the shop for

2 gig Geil ultra cl4

saw they also sell for the same price

2 gig ocz platinum cl4

going to be used with a p5n-e and a e6400 under phase so although high bandwidth isn't essential, 1:1 up to 500fsb would be nice.

which do I get?

Neither.

Get the crucial 10th Anni ram. It's only rated for lowish speeds but it clocks like crazy.

too expensive (although I appreciate it is great ram)

+£50 for more memory bandwidth is too much for me. On the p5n-e it won't make any difference to the cpu overclock.

Fair enough :)

I avoided them due to price originally (though it's less than £40 more by my calcs) but the Geil I bought (not from ocuk) was absolutely awful - wouldn't do stock timings and wouldn't oc even a tiny bit.

Returned the geil and waiting on the crucial now ;)

The numerous reports of the Geil problems (although probably a low % of units sold) put me off them, so I went for the ocz.

unfortunately when I got to the shop they were rev.1 so I was left with the Geil - They were not in stock.

I am passing ocuk tomorrow so will pop in there

This offers a few more choices but the OCZ are still top of the list unless anyone can suggest why any of the following would be better

geil ultra c4

I went with the OCZ plat rev 2's for my P5N-E, should be arriving today :) Was gonna go with the Crucial Anni's, but there's not much point for the P5N-E tbh.

that was my thinking as well.

what cpu?

I went with an E6300 retail as I got it for the same price as E4300's were going, if there was any price difference though i'd have gone for the 4300, its probably the better choice for oc'ing anyway due to its multiplier. I'm not going to push the OC too far (only to roughly 3GHz) with the processor so it doesn't really matter to me if it doesn't clock quite as well as a 4300.

I purchased the OCZ Rev.2 Platinum 6400 and am so glad I did.

Posts at 1.84v at DDR2-800 on my Bad Axe 2 in dual channel with no issues at 4-4-4-12 which I'm very happy about.

Not had chance to clock it up yet, will have to see how it goes.

Plus the Heat spreaders really do look excellant!

whats the problem with there warranty

I read elsewehere that after 12 months it's got to go back to Taiwan. Probably no different to sending it back to the US but that, combined with the unkown brand (to me) and higher latencies made me get the OCZ.
