I see there is another thread with the same title but it degenerated into the usual 'WoW is bad for you' crap slinging match.

I'm installing it back over to my main PC as Mac is ... crap. Long load times, takes ages to quit the game, game freezes, etc. Did a brand new install with snow leopard but still the same issues. SO, back to PC I go.

I don't have the disks anymore but can do it from Account Management page. It gives me three options. WoW, WoW:TBC, WoW Lich King. Do I have to start from WoW- TBC - WOTLK or can I got for Lich King straight?

Lich King straight off. It includes the previous packs.

Dont worry about the negative comments on the WoW threads. In any WoW thread someone will help with your question regardless of the last few posts in said thread.

I post good and bad things about WoW but I will usually reply to the OP first if the question hasn't been addressed yet.

As a handy aside for the future (although obviously no help in your case since you're going Mac > PC), WoW does not require itself to be installed - you can move it between PCs or create backups just by dragging and dropping the folder. The only trick is that you may have to launch it directly via WoW.exe the first time as opposed to the launcher, in order to get it to generate the registry keys.

Grand, thanks for the replies lads. Saved me a bucket of time as I would've gone through them all one by one.

Trouble with porting the folder is that it's 13.75 gig :(

It's quicker than reinstalling but to move it via lan or even my 8 gig USB took an age :(

Thanks for the tip about wow.exe I got it to work eventually after moving but couldn't remember how.

I'll be moving it again come Oct 22 ;)

Thought you had to Go WoW - -> WoTLK?

Latest WoW installer is 3.012 which includes TBC. Then WoTLK for the extra stuff then patches.

Can you just skip out the WOW install and it installs everything?

Do what i did, let wow download the patch, make a note of the patch name then google it for a faster download (gamers hell is a nice place to download from) , rince and repeat.

I had to use the patcher for the updates from 3.0 - 3.2 . For some reasons I couldn't get it to download from any mirrior wowwiki had up and running. OK, that's a lie, got it working from two but downloading at 15kb or so. I just left the patcher on and went to bed. This morning it was all done.
