Hi,

No it won't work. As pin configuration is different on both chips. So DDR 2 won't line up in a DDR 3 slot.

You do get some combo boards that take both but it would say quite clearly on it if it was one, they also tend to be a bit of a compromise in features terms anyway.

Hope your mate gets it sorted out quickly.

Unless the board he got sent is better than the other one and maybe be worthwhile buying some cheap'n'cheerful ddr3 ram.
