very quick tv advice before i go and impulse buy

short story parents tv is broke and want to buy quickly before the sales end

ive looked at the SONY BRAVIA KDL50W756CSU Smart 50" LED TV

and the LG 49UF680V Smart Ultra HD 4k 49" LED TV

as both are in the 500quid region and 4k for not much more than a 1080p screen but is it better to just buy a 1080p tv as there isnt really much 4k content ? and the confusion over whether hdmi 2 can take a full 4k stream? im fairly tech savy but never really read up on 4:4:4 colour and all that

They aren't going to benefit from a 4K TV as there isn't enough content to justify it yet but for the same money i would get the latest technology.

That's me though.

Save £50 and get one from Richer sounds with a 6 year warranty.

dunno about picture quality but the webos on the LG series is much nicer to use than the android tv on the Sony sets.
