Very simple forum?

I'm looking to set up a really simple forum which is very minimal but also capable. I basically just want the threads to be name+date and then the messages from each poster and a main page showing all topics...

I've got three options as I see it at the moment: code my own and I would have to start from scratch, use phpbb and customize the theme, or find a really simple software ready to go that I can customise...

So if anyone can recommend a good and very simple forum software that has the following:
Ability to register and log in
BBCODES + ability to make custom BBCODES
Easily customisable

Check that out, as simple as they come. If anything it might be too simple for your needs.

Forgot about this one. Might be worth checking out. No where near as simple, but it has more features that might be useful to you.

The first one you posted was a little simple and I couldn't get it to work properly, but I really like the look of this vanilla forum thing, installing it now, thanks again.

Could you give an example of another site with a simple forum? It might make it easier if you could

Personally id use vbulletin and just modify it to your needs as its nice to have an advanced backend
