I defragged my HDD.
Before defrag - 46 secs from power on
Now - 3 mins 57 secs from power on.

The blue bar goes on for ages. Why has this happened from defragging?
What can I do to make it fast again?

Might just be because its the 1st start after the defrag?

I defragged my PC and it was a little bit slower, but now it seems to be back to normal, just give it a few start ups

Unlucky, you'll probably have to do a repair reinstall and re-apply the updates to fix it.

Sorry to hear about your horror stories guys, I've never had this trouble, maybe you should try 3rd party software? Diskeeper or O&O Defrag.

I'm never going to defrag ever again :(

That's like saying, I am never going to shave again. :o

iirc Diskeeper has a boot time defrag, just a small defrag every time you boot your pc
I'd be guessing THAT was what causes your extended boot times.
you know the solution? STOP REBOOTING! LEAVE YOUR PCS ON AND RUNNING FOLDING!

Sorted.
Defrag messed my page file.
Deleted page file & it booted only passing the blue bar once.
Now with a new page file its up at 3 passes, I can live with that :)
