Very slow file transfer on server?

For some reason my file server is very slow on file transfer, I tried using NTBACKUP to set it the transfer 80gb of data from one drive to another (One IDE and one SATA), it was transfering the files all night and estimated time left was over a day, What can be causing this?

The spec is
P4 2ghz
1gb Corsair DDR
Windows xp pro

Maybe the IDE drive isn't in Ultra DMA mode ?

yer, if theyre big files maybe think about getting another gig of memory, and if you have recently put loads of files on dont forget the obvious but useful defrag

o.k. i wouldnt have though getting another gig of memory would help but i will check that the ide drives are DMA enabled, Ill have a few tweaks and see what happens.

yeh good idea, Use it as a ramdrive then im sorted

Anyway i think it might be the bootable hard disk drive casuing probs as i have started getting delayed write failure messages come up.

What do you think?
