I noticed our internet seemed slow so ran a speedtest check and it comes back at 1.2Mbs. But the router stats below would indicate it should be a lot quicker. It has been around 8Mbs for a week or so since installing a new Draytek 2830.

ADSL Information ( ADSL Firmware Version: 232201_A)
ATM Statistics ...TX Cells ....RX Cells..... TX CRC errs ......RX CRC errs
......................65065........ 5749........ 0............... 61
ADSL Status .........Mode ......State ........Up Speed..... Down Speed..... SNR Margin..... Loop Att.
..........ADSL2+(G.992.5)....... SHOWTIME...... 1095111...... 12665402..... 6.............. 39

The CRC errors seem quite high - could that be whats wrong?

Whether that is a good or bad amount of errors will depend on how long your router has been sync'd for. If it's only a few mins, 61 errors is pretty high. Over a week, not so much.

Are you using wireless or wired, and have you tried on another device? (Jeez, I haven't done a 1st line support call for agesss) :p

Its been up for 3 hours and the RX cells are 73539 and the errors are 24345

The router was installed just over a week ago and its been fine up until the weekend.

EDIT

Switched the mode to G.DMT and the cells are at 16000 after 11 minutes with 0 errors.

Can't test speed till I get home - can access router from work.

The previous draytek was on ADSL2+(G.992.5) and was managing a steady 10meg

I updated its firmware and I don't what happened but the SNR went up to like 50 something and the speed dropped to about 256K. Tried a line reset with the provider, tried putting the old firmware onto it but it wouldn't play ball so junked it for this new one.

Funnily enough we have the same router in work and that will only connect using G.DMT. ADSL2+(G.992.5) doesn't work at all.

Is there much difference?
