Right guys, today my internet just died on me randomly, i checked my router, tried to access it (router.home) but nothing came up. So i restarted my PC and i got a really weird "found new hardware" message. I have attached some piccies. I still could not access my router or the internet at all, and everytime i restart i get these new hardware found messages. I was working on my PC earlier, doing a bit of cable management, but i havent added anything.

I need as many suggestions as possible, as down-time on my PC is very inconveneint (sp), IDEAS!?

EDIT: forgot to add, internet is fine on my other pc, they are connected to the same router. I really doubt this is a virus of some sort as i am very strict on myself about that kind of thing

I just tried to put in my motherboard disc and reinstall the LAN drivers but realised my DVD drive isnt recognized in windows! I rebooted and it recognizes it in the bios, i have checked and re-checked all connections

Ideas? :(

Just did this, from microsoft's website:

Method 2: Replace the existing driver
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. If Control Panel is in Category view, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.

If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System.
3. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

Note In Windows Vista Beta 2, click Device Manager in the left pane. If a dialog box appears that describes permissions, click Continue.
4. Click the drive with the question mark next to it.
5. On the Action menu, click Uninstall. When you are prompted to confirm the removal, click OK.
6. Repeat steps 4 through 5 for any other drives with question marks.
7. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.

ok, no more stupid pop-up message, but i cant get my drive to come up in windows still!

and worse yet my lan controller has gone funny, i cant access my router at all.

I just tried unplugging the dvd-drive, still cant connect to internet :(

any ideas on how to fix or is this a case of re-formatting everything :(

Try this fix

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]

Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class

Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]

Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.

Exit Registry and Reboot.

it seems to be common that a cd/dvd drive goes a.w.o.l for no reason.

the above fix has worked for me before.

Hi, i got into regedit, found {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, but im stuck, i don't know what to delete and in which sub folder, can someone run me through it plz

on the right pane you will see entries that include lowerfilters and upperfilters.

right click each of them and select modify.

in the value data field delete the information in it on both the 2 above filters.

I'v seen that before, it happened when my USB to Ethernet Adapter blew up. It would detect it as some random letters and symbols like your screenshots. I had to throw the peice of junk away. :)

hmm thats kind of ironic....

Anyways, i just reformatted a reinstalled windows as i do not have the time to play around.

Got into windows, put my mobo drivers disc in, and all my dvd drive reports is a music file, a different one each time i put the disc in. I think my dvd drive is shot, what do you guys think?

OCZ Modstream 520w. It has powered my system (e6600 @ 3.42, x1900xt, gigabyte dq6 mobo, xms2 2gb ram) fine for the last 6-7 months :S

I just put my other DVD drive (i know this works, i checked before removing it) and i put it into my PC here, and it comes up with the same weird "track000" audio file?!

Yeh i have checked and double checked and unplugged and replugged all connections that i can see, do the actual IDE cables ever go funny?

EDIT: just changed the IDE cable, no luck, still says all my discs are music discs with random tracks on them

Someone mentioned to me that i may have gave off some ESD whilst cable managing, i may have to RMA my board.

What do you guys think, should i RMA or are tehre any other solutions do you guys think :(

Are your hdd's sata or ide? If their sata you could try your dvd drive on the secondary ide channel and see if that makes a difference.
