hi i have my i7 at 4.3ghz with 2x5870 cf,when i play cod5 at 16SAA I GET ABOUT91fps,but with this heat i decided to put it to 2.4ghz and see how it goes,i had massive diffrences in my fps with furmark so iwas exspecting a big drop in fps with cod5,but when i stated it up im still getting my 91fps,why is my fps still the same after ive went from 4.3ghz down to 2.4ghz,surely this cant be right?

Some games are very dependant on cpu speed and the fps will be reflected by this, scaling in proportion with clockspeed. Other games are quite light on the cpu and will show very similar fps regardless of clockspeed. You may find this article interesting

hi i jst ran gta benchmark/mw2/l4d/and im still getting the same fps,droping from 4.3ghz to 2.4 is a big dropi thought there would be a massive diffrence,why is there a big drop in programes like furmark but in the real world there is no diffrence,whats the point in overclocking when it seems to make little diffrence
Many games will see little to no gain from overclocking, other programs like encoding and folding etc will see the best gains.
that article was quite intresting mate,i really wish i had jst got a new mobo for my q6660 /and a half desent cooler and oc it to 3.6,i would have saved myself £2800 ,as all i do is game so the q6660 would have been fine,after reading that article i could kick myself,done now
