I have just got an Abit AL8 as a short term replacement for an AV8 which I have been having problems with. Everything seems fine although there is a really nasty high pitched noise coming from the middle of the board, near the CPU and GPU. The really odd thing about this problem is that it can be circumvented by removing the network cable and rebooting the PC. Doing this stops the noise which only returns when the network cable is plugged in again (within 2 seconds). I am now using a seperate PCI network card but would be interested to see if anyone has any ideas as to why this problem is occuring.

My system:

Tagan Easycon 580
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Abit AL8
2x 512 Corsair Dual Channel DDR Value Select
Hitachi Deskstar 250g SATA

Sounds like interference to me, try moving your cables around especially the PSU cables.

I have the Tagan EasyCon series PSU and they can cause such problems as this I have heard, even though some cables are EMI shielded.
