Hi guys,

i have been given a Fujitsu amilo pro v2030 laptop for the kids but it has a little problem.... the keyboard and track pad don't work in windows or any os for that matter even cd and usb booted os's i can get into the bios no problem using the keyboard and change any option ect but as soon as i try to get into windows nothing also as a bonus the usb ports also stop working in windows so that option is out of the window :(

it has me stumped, has anyone got any ideas? :)

I had a kb with a stuck key, that for some reason let me into the bios and worked, however once booted into the os the KB not work, however when I went into notepad it was obvious what was going on - so not the same as you issue exactly

try taking it appart and disconnecting the KB cable inside, then see if a USB KB works... if that makes no difference try disconnecting the mouse pad as well incase its stuck...

its possibly the USB issue is seperate so the USB kb may not work anyway... but its worth a try - try different USB ports incase one is broken..

thanks for the quick replys guys unfortunately i've tried all of those with no luck :( i could understand it if is was only not working in windows but even booting off a ubuntu 10 cd still nothing well after the menu part anyway same with the windows install cd after the 1st reboot when it starts installing the keyboard, track pad and usb keyboard stop working....... very strange

Got a similiar problem here....laptopkeyboard works fine in bios and xp setup startup by when it gets to the bit where tou need to do keyboard settings neither mouse or kb will work.
If i plugg in usb ones they work fine.

Used Backtrack 4 bootable os and they both work fine in that.

Definately not a xp problem as tried w7 install and it did the same.

Was thinking problem with motherboard but maybe it could be a stuck key...away to reinstall windows on it to see.

Got mine working again....think it was bad contact on the mouse connector to the motherboard...it stopped the power button from working too which was strange and also made me think failed motherboard.
