Very strange usb behaviour on Asus m4a785d-m pro

A friend called me telling me that his USB keyboard and mouse stopped working suddenly after some updates on his pc. The USB settings were enabled in the bios but no USB device would work. I inserted windows 7 cd and suddenly the USB mouse and keyboard started working.

I installed windows and started updating, after several reboots, I installed sp1 and then again no USB would work even before windows loads. Tried all the back USB ports, updated bios of the mobo. Sometimes it looses USB connection in windows. This is driving me insane. Any ideas?

No ideas?! Seems like the motherboard is kicking the bucket. RMA time l guess.

Was they working after installing windows???

Maybe something in the windows update is effecting the USB. Any drivers being updated???

That is what l thought at first but if it was a windows driver it wouldn't prevent the bios from detecting it before Windows loads.

I have a similar thing on my m78td board. Mine is USB powers my iPhone and will randomly drop and pick up connection to it.
Never been able to work it out.

Will wait until it dies and get a better board I think
