Vista worked perfectly, all videos played & I was very happy.
Now, all of a sudden my videos dont work...

They work if I copy them to another hard drive
They work on XP

Its not a video problem cos they work in XP
Its not a HDD problem cos they work on XP
Its not a video player problem cos they work from another drive

The only codecs I have ever installed are: FFDshow, Haali Media Splitter and XviD. As i said before, everything worked perfectly until one day, it just stopped. :(

Edit: By not work, I get an error saying: "Media Centre has stopped responding"

I have tried Media Centre, Media Player, MPC, Winamp. It happens in all of them. I really need them working in Media Centre again...

I had this a few months ago, and it was to do with trying to output at maximum sound levels.

Have you tried to change them recently?

Try changing the sound to 48khz and see if that helps.

DON'T ask me why, I've no idea but I can replicate it each and every time:

Right click on speaker, select "Playback Devices"
Click on Speakers, then Properties
Click on advanced
Change "Default Format" to 48Khz.

If I change that higher on mine, I get the same problem you're getting. Reverting it back to 48Khz, it works fine. Weird!

Cheers, I'll give it a go.
Its weird that they play from one drive & not another though...

I had this with XP once when I had Nvidia Pure Video installed... none of my videos in folder is was set to watch worked at all. I haven't got it installed this time though :(
