on my a8r-mvp board, when the cpu is idling my voltage is all over the place for 1.37v up to 1.48v, just keeps going up and down between those amounts, thought it was a prob but didnt know what to do, anyway ive just ran dual prime95 for 5hrs and my voltage is set to 1.4 in bios and while it was running the voltage sat there at 1.392v and didnt move an inch, has anybody else had this prob and it there a way of fixing it

Thanks

Lee

also tried the overvoltage thing [email protected] and the voltage is all over the place again on prime now

When the voltage regulator on the mobo isn't loaded (i.e. the CPU doesn't need to draw much current) you will find that it will hover around the voltage set in the BIOS, and this won't be constant, so it's quite normal to see some variantion.

When you load the CPU the current drain on the voltage regulator increases, and since you only have a finite amount of power the voltage dips accordingly (Power=VI).

You're probably seeing the voltage stabilise because of the load on the voltage regulator when you're priming.
