When using a Q6600, should one connect 4 pins or 8 pins on the CPU power socket.
I've always only connected 4 because there's always been a blanker covering the other 4 pins in the socket. But then I got to thinking that an overclocked Q6600 probably draws some serious juice.
Think my PSU has 2x4pins available.

Don't laugh or call names, I was working on the principle that too little power=no boot but too much power=no more CPU.

Thank you gents.

I suppose good PSU's have been saving my bacon.

Been using AMD's too long you see, got in the habbit of hurling the leaflet from the CPU box straight into a drawer (AMD's are ONLY the warrantee, in 400 languages) :D
(who am I kidding, I bet the intel one's the same LOL )

Addendum.....
I think I got into bad habbits with only attaching four when building a box for a cow-orker. It came with a DOA PSU, and to test the theory I shoved the ATX lead off my PSU onto the board and sparked it up....no CPU line attached......LOL never heard a board make a noise like it, none of your "boop boop booooooop boop" warnings...this was "PHEEEP PHEEEP PHEEEP!!!!!!!!" repeating....essentially, yelling "TURN ME OFF TURN ME OFF TURN ME OFF!!!!!", shutting it off and giving it 4 pins was enough to cut that out. Still it showed the new PSU was toast.
