Very tempted to switch to PS3

yeah its nice to watch films with lots of volume, but sometimes you cant. I had a 360 when i was at home with my rents and it was impossible to watcj a film and have a low enough sound level in the evening/ night. Its not as practical as the ps3.

Grid is a better slot car sim than GT5P :D
Anyway, if you have wanted to play fable 2 then why not wait for October, play the game the main quest is only 10 hrs long, then trade in your stuff closer to Christmas.

lies. Watching dvds on it is stupid, playing games with medium sound or at night is stupid too.

some people like silence, my pc is virtually silent, and the ps3 is quieter. My old 360 was like a hoover

I honestly never notice mine unless a game is loading and there is no music.

Obviously though this whole topic is down to opinion.

I now have a PS3 and a 360. Mainly because my 360 is on its last legs, but its served me proud.

The PS3 has become a competitive machine, mainly due to MGS4 i feel. It is a fantastic game. But i also bought GT5P and am loving that too, the graphics are fantastic. The quietness is a major factor, dont get me wrong, ive been using my 360 for ages and my Z5500s cover the noise well, but having a quiet console is a luxury i have missed.

The DS3 is the only controller I have and will use. Its still too light and not as good as the 360, but its acceptable. If someone handed me a plain old sixaxis i would hurl it at their head, and I am not a violent man, demonstrated by this because I know that a sixaxis controller would suffer so greatly from its lightweight and therefore wind resistance that not even a trebuchet would deliver it more than a metre.

BluRay has won, and the media capabilities of the PS3 seem much better than the xbox experience I encountered (DVD upscaling is greatly welcome without me having to use VGA). However, this was with much older TVersity software, but I am yet to experience any configuration requirements on the PS3.

Ultimately, you can have fanboys with all their reasons as above that choose to ignore the other machines benefits, and then you can have reasonable people who see the pros and cons of both. Although, I would say, dont buy a PS3 new when you can get them on the MM for a decent price and need not worry so greatly about failures.

lol grid is a joke

I have both grid and ferrari challenge.
Grid is an arcade game and ferrari challenge is a sim.
I think ferrari challenge is a much better game to play as the car handling is very good.
I have a ps3 and a 360 and would not part with either of them.

To be honest you will be missing a lot of content on the 360 this coming year, friend of mine sold his 360 for a Wii recently (technically not the same thing). He enjoys the Wii but quite often asks if he can come over when Gears 2 comes out even though i keep reminding him i have 1 controller.

Is their anything stopping you from saving up for a PS3 or any reason in particular that you need to get rid of the xbox. As it stands the HDD install is coming which will help you with the noise problem.

I have heard for a while now that Sony are going to charge for their online server (Qore or something) so dont expect it to be free forever as everyone will more than likely jump on the bandwagon.

I would consider saving up and having both consoles. I have considered trading in my 360 for a PS3 but with all the exclusives coming up i cant justify it even though i really want a PS3.

I think thats a gross overstatement.

And no its not stupid, I watch DVD's quite happily on mine, do you know why?

1.) Films have volume
2.) I'm not a fussy ****

All films have quiet moments too - but not when you're watching them on a 360 ;).

Seriously though, your argument is pretty weak - I doubt you'd put up with someone hoovering whilst you're at your local cinema watching the latest blockbuster. The 360 is a games console that happens to play DVDs etc, it plays games well which is what most people bought it for. Theres no need for a blinkered defence of something that is blatantly annoying.

Qore is chargeable but is an optional purchase and has no relevance to the PSN or online gaming.
If he doesn't game much as he stated why would he want both consoles?

Looking at the games arriving before Christmas it will be an expensive 6 months for those with both consoles tbh.

Its really not a blinkered defense, the only time I have ever noticed the noise is when I've left he console on downloading or something. I dont even notice it in quiet films. Its possible I'm just very good at ignoring background noise. Im not denying that the PS3 is quieter, and its obviously a great plus point, I'm just not saying its mandatory.

Because of the exclusives coming to the PS3 and its a blu-ray player, cant see why you would want to miss out on the 360 exclusives as well as both consoles have a lot going for them.

Im the type who doesnt get rid of consoles though. If i dont want them i give them to my sister and swear on pain of death if she sells them :D

Don't get me wrong I agree, but he did say he doesn't game much, use LIVE much and is more into movies. From that point of view then I would find it hard to recommend both consoles as in the most part they offer a very similar range of games with the exception that the PS3 is also a BR player.

Obviously if he has the money then both is definately better than just having the one :)
